Syphon Creek/Gayle Trail for Botany and Birds

  • Syphon Creek Trail Parking Lot 4450 60 Street Northwest Salmon Arm, BC, V1E 0B2 Canada (map)

This is a good opportunity to see and learn some of the most notable lichens to be found in our area. There is also an interesting variety of native shrubs that are easily recognized in the early season. Of course, we'll also look for early-season landbirds.

The trip leader is Mitch Milgram. Meet at the Syphon Creek Trail parking lot in Gleneden at 10:00 AM. Go to the Shuswap Trail Alliance website for detailed directions to the starting point. We will return to the main parking lot between 11:00 and noon. No outdoor public washrooms.

Difficulty rating: DR-1/DR-2 (well established trails with some elevation change).
