The Shuswap River is a key spawning location for sockeye, Chinook and coho salmon. Through several short hikes, John Woods and Doug Mongerson will lead an exploration of spawning areas and also investigate birds, mammals and plants in adjacent habitats. While the main spawning event will be nearing an end, there still should be plenty to see in the river plus the birds that come to feed on the salmon carcasses.

Meet at 8:00 a.m. at the Junglemania parking lot to carpool to Cooke Creek Recreation Site (just before the Kingfisher hatchery) or meet at 9:00 at Cooke Creek Recreational Site.
