Our AGM will be held on this date.
The meeting will start with a presentation by new club member and biologist Peter Baker. His talk, titled “Southern Mountain Caribou: Managing an Endangered Species on an Altered Landscape”, will describe caribou management in our area and his work on this species over the past couple years.
Peter is a Community Science Project Lead with Biodiversity Pathways at the University of British Columbia, specializing in the development of habitat selection models for caribou. His work integrates multiple knowledge systems, including Indigenous and Western scientific approaches, to support informed conservation efforts for various species, including caribou and other ungulates. While his current work involves terrestrial ecology and caribou, Peter completed his MSc at the University of Western Ontario, where he focused on aquatic ecology, studying the cardiac physiology of lake trout in the Great Lakes.
Non-members wanting to only see this part of the meeting are welcome to attend and leave before the business agenda begins.
The meeting will be held at 7pm in the library at Salmon Arm Secondary School, Sullivan Campus in Salmon Arm. See panel to left for mapping and address details.
