CHRISTMAS BIRD COUNT

The Christmas Bird Count (CBC), North America's oldest citizen science project, engages volunteers across the Western Hemisphere. Each year, people in over 2,000 locations count birds, providing valuable data on bird populations and distribution. Birds Canada and the National Audubon Society oversee the program, which relies on volunteer efforts and donations. This data is used by scientists and conservationists to understand bird trends.

Our club organizes this annual for the Salmon Arm area. Participants get together at the end of the day to start their Christmas season by talking about…birds, of course! Watch our calendar of events for the date and contact information if you are interested in participating. Note that there is special CBC day for kids, also posted on our calendar.
